Our Story
Grace Crossing
Grace is the freely given, unmerited favor and love of God. Whether you know it or not, God loves you unconditionally. There is no person on this earth that deserves God’s love, but God loves us just the same. This love is called grace. And it is the gift of God and the ultimate invitation to abundant life offered to everyone through God’s Son, Jesus.
Grace Crossing started with one family’s desire to show others God’s grace crossing their lives every day by focusing on these three pillars: WORSHIP, FAMILY MINISTRIES and MISSIONS. Dr. John Whitehurst and his family had the first official gathering in the summer of 2008. Later that year the first Community Christmas Candlelight Service was held. It was such a success that it has become an annual tradition.
Weekly worship began in February of 2009 in a storefront location by McAllisters. We celebrated our 4th anniversary as a church and were chartered as an independent congregation of the United Methodist Church in February 2013. In 2014 we moved into our permanent home on Hawkins Parkway.
Keith came to serve as the second pastor of Grace Crossing in July of 2020. He and John worked together for a year and a half, prayerfully preparing the church for a pastoral transition. John retired February 13, 2022, on the church’s 13th anniversary. On September 24, 2022, after a 95 day period of discernment, Grace Crossing felt God calling us to affiliate with the Global Methodist Church. We are excited to see what God has planned next.
“He is so rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom with the blood of His Son and forgave our sins.”
-Paul, Ephesians 1:7
This is our story…
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. -1 John 4:9-10; 15-17
“Won’t you revive us again, so your people can rejoice in you?” - Psalm 85:6
